H istory of the Taj Mahal. The Mughal Emperor Saha jahan built the Taj Mahal in memory of his wife Mumtaz. Mumtaz was Saha jahan's most beloved Bagum. Mamtaz real name is Arjumand Banu Bagum. Mamtaz died while giving birth to her 14th child. Mamtaz breathed her last in burhanpur. After Mamtaz death Saha jahan mourned his loss and build the Taj Mahal in 1631-1653 AD. T he original main entrance to the  Taj mahal. Mast of the tourists who come to see the present Taj Mahal do not see as much as Saha jahan wanted to show them.
